The art
We love this series of Tintin cover posters, in Hergé's distinct ligne claire drawing style, and in the original French as Hergé designed them.
The Black Island (L'Île noire in French) was the seventh volume of The Adventures of Tintin, the comics series by Belgian cartoonist Hergé. The story tells of young Belgian reporter Tintin and his dog Snowy, who travel to England in pursuit of a gang of counterfeiters. Framed for theft and hunted by detectives Thomson and Thompson, Tintin follows the criminals to Scotland, discovering their lair on the Black Island. In the mid-1960s, the English publisher, who was about to translate this volume, complained to Hergé about numerous errors of detail from an English point of view. Bob De Moor (who collaborated with Hergé) was dispatched to the United Kingdom for ten days, travelling to the places visited by Tintin and Snowy and accumulating hundreds of sketches, photos and documents. As a result, the volume was completely redrawn without changing the original storyline itself.
