Collection: Maurice Sendak
Maurice Sendak (1928 - 2012) was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Polish Jewish immigrant parents. His love of books began when, as a child, he developed health problems and was confined to his bed; his inspiration to then become an illustrator came at the age of 12 after watching Walt Disney's film Fantasia. Sendak was an illustrator for other authors, before in 1963 writing and illustrating Where the Wild Things Are.
