It’s been a delight to curate a collection of framed prints from ‘MOG the Forgetful Cat,’ the first in the MOG series which went on to total 17 books. This joyful series of prints can only be found at Ralph & James.
Everyone's favourite cat Mog first appeared over fifty years ago, in a funny and warm-hearted escapade where in the end Mog’s forgetfulness comes in very handy one night… These beautiful framed prints are perfect for anyone who has ever known or loved a cat like Mog.
We love that Mog was based on Judith Kerr’s own first cat (Mog). Mog the character enacted on the pages many of the real-life Mog’s peculiarities, such as her penchant for boiled eggs for breakfast each morning!
Judith Kerr (1923 – 2019) was born in Berlin. At the age of 10 her family fled for Switzerland as the Nazis came to power, eventually settling in Britain in 1936. During the Second World War, Judith worked for the Red Cross, helping wounded soldiers, before being awarded a scholarship to study at the Central School of Arts and Crafts and becoming an artist.
Kerr is best known for her classics The Tiger Who Came to Tea (1968) and the MOG series which began with MOG the Forgetful Cat (1970). As well as young children's books, Kerr wrote children's novels such as the semi-autobiographical Out of the Hitler Time trilogy.
Kerr was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2012 Birthday Honours for services to children's literature and Holocaust education.
THE PRINT AND FRAME
The print is framed by hand in Cambridgeshire in the UK, using only European sourced PEFC™ and FSC approved woods. Frames are Fine Art Trade Guild accredited which means they meet strict conservation standards and are built to last for generations to come.
We use Clarity+ glazing which is a high-quality acrylic glass alternative, offering high UV resistance which doesn't yellow over time, is not easily scratched and is safe for use in children's bedrooms.
Your framed print will arrive with D-rings and cord already attached, ready to hang right out of the box.
Including the frame, with mount, the medium framed print is 45cm wide and 34cm high.
